Responsive Web Design

Modern display devices such as smartphones, tablets, SmartTVs, wearables and maybe even more advanced future devices translate into new requirements on the design, programming and user operation of a website.

While the assumption that the majority of users will access a website from a desktop computer was certainly true until a couple of years ago, mobile end-devices are quickly becoming the norm. The various screen sizes and resolutions make it virtually impossible to assume a certain resolution to be the standard, in order to provide an ideal website presentation to all users.

Alternative input methods such as touch operation require new navigation concepts, as they may, for example, lack roll-over support or use voice commands.

To master these challenges, and to ensure an optimal user experience on all display devices, the principles of the responsive/adaptive web design are applied today.
